It is important that investigations of any incident be conducted by a qualified professional. The practice in many organization is to allow the investigation to be conducted by the Supervisor / Manager of the section or the HR Dept. But how qualified is this person. He may have past experience of investigating similar incidents but did he investigate those cases properly? Did he have the proper training and track record to qualify him to conduct the investigation? Is the process independent and transparent? Bear in mind that improper investigations will result in serious consequences and liabilities.
